Corporate Development Overview:
In 2015, Vista Outdoor Inc. was born as a spin-off of Alliant Techsystems Inc (“ATK”). ATK successfully secured a position in the commercial shooting sports market in 2001 with the acquisition of Blount International Inc.’s Sporting Equipment Business. Since being spun-off from ATK in February 2015, Vista Outdoor has acquired CamelBak, the world’s leading maker of personal hydration solutions, and Camp Chef, a market leader in outdoor cooking solutions, demonstrating our publicly stated intention of growing through M&A. Additionally, Vista Outdoor recently completed a portfolio review that culminated with the company pursuing strategic alternatives for a number of brands. This newly hired position will play a key role in supporting and facilitating those transactions.
Vista Outdoor’s Anoka, MN location is seeking a Financial Analyst, Corporate Development to join its high-energy Corporate Development Group. This highly visible role will be responsible for evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, strategic alliances and other impactful strategic initiatives. In addition, the person in this position will actively perform due diligence and target research, as well as assist in the sourcing of new acquisition opportunities. This position is part of a small, active team that helps guide many of Vista Outdoor’s most significant strategic decisions.
Provides analytical support for transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
Develops, builds, and nurtures effective relationships with potential acquisition and partnership targets
Performs valuation analysis
Builds financial models and performs business and financial analyses of various aspects of acquisition targets’ financials, sales and operations
Performs business analysis in support of Purchase Agreement negotiations
Coordinates outside professional advisors’ and internal advisors’ due diligence activities in support of M&A transactions
Prepares reports and presentations in support of M&A transactions
Provides business and financial analysis and related support on corporate and business development projects
Provides support to the investor relations team, including preparing investor presentations and assisting in drafting earnings-related materials for the executive team
Skills & Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
1-3 years in corporate development, private equity, transaction advisory services or investment banking
Demonstrated experience in financial due diligence
Demonstrated experience in developing models for valuation purposes – must be able to pass a financial modeling and valuation exam administered by Vista Outdoor
Demonstrated ability to creatively problem solve while under high pressure and deal with ambiguity
Skill/strength with numbers must be equal to communication skills
Advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Capital IQ platform
Must organize/prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and projects and function effectively as a team member
