Responsibilities and Qualifications
CamelBak/Vista Outdoor is seeking a dynamic, Staff Accountant to join our team. The position will take on a wide range of responsibilities but will be focused on systematically analyzing data, assist in the month end close process, generating monthly G/L account reconciliation’s and performing cost accounting activities. The candidate will monitor, verify and reconcile accounts related to inventory while working closely with other departments including Purchasing, Logistics, and Planning.
Assist in month end accounting activities
Prepare and analyze month end G/L reconciliation’s
Run and distribute preliminary reporting to managers
Maintain JE and Recon binders
Process Sales & Use tax returns
Responsible for the set up and maintenance of Raw materials, WIP, packaging and FG items; create and maintain production BOMs;
Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in a worldwide manufacturing environment including periodic cost rolls/updates.
Prepare month-end calculations and accrual such as E&O, warranty reserve, GRN, duties and freight, etc...
Reconcile monthly inventory reports
Prepare variance analysis reports and investigate and resolve any material variances.
Work with product development, engineering and operations teams to set standards, reduce cost and develop new product costs.
Collaborate with FP&A team on forecasting COGS and inventory
Participate in internal and external annual audits
Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, update reporting etc.
Special Projects as needed
Adheres to and enforces internal controls and compliance with department procedures
Associates Degree, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
2+ years of Accounting experience, preferable with manufacturing company
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong Excel skills required.
Experience with Oracle (or similar inventory and ERP systems)
Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and handle high pressure situations while maintaining a high level of quality, and flexibility.
Strong organizational ability and time management skills
Ability to plan, initiate and complete work assignments with minimal supervision
Works well in a team environment as well as independently
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
