Responsibilities and Qualifications

Bell Sports is a leader in the sports equipment industry and strives to create innovative and competitive products for both professional and recreational athletes. Bell is currently seeking a Test Engineer that serves the Action Sports division of the organization. Within the Action Sports division, the Test Engineer will be supporting brands such as Bell, Giro, and Blackburn to evaluate action sports products. As a Test Engineer in Bell Sports, you will be working directly with R&D Engineering and project managers and providing them with data that guide product design. The Test Engineer creates test plans, designs test equipment, performs tests, and guides test technicians. Test data is reduced and analyzed by the Test Engineer, and then presented to the R&D team.


  • Work with R&D Engineers and product managers to develop DMFEA test plans to evaluate product

  • Develop and/or procure test equipment and develop test protocols

  • Work with other engineers and technicians to perform physical tests and simulated FEA tests

  • Work with external laboratories and factories to facilitate testing

  • Reduce and analyze test data and perform failure analysis

  • Create concise and accurate test reports and present to internal customers.

  • Document and archive internal and third party test data within PLM and other database resources

  • Understand and stay informed of industry test standards

  • Maintaining and facilitating regular calibration and maintenance of test equipment


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science

  • 3-5 years experience in an engineering role desirable

  • CAD and CAE software experience

  • Proficient use of MS Excel and MS Word

  • Hands-On mechanical or machine shop experience desirable

  • Familiarity with electrical systems and instrumentation desirable
